David Kency (Antonio, Doc Dee) is very excited to be a part of this production of The Name of the Rain. David was born and raised in New Orleans, LA where he received his B.A. from the University of New Orleans in Mass Communications, David is very proud to be making his Professional Theater debut. He would like to thank Amelia Lorenz and Sarah Leer for this incredible opportunity, his big loving family for all their encouragement and support, and to the audience, "This above all - to thine own self be true." Enjoy the show!
Leah Wolfe (June tour: Lola, Joanna) is one of the founders of the shelter that The Name of the Rain is based on and is the daughter of Hawley Wolfe, the author. She is a student at LSU and is planning on attending Osteopathic Medicine School. She currently works as a tutor for Autistic children. She spends much of her time traveling and enjoys scuba diving.
Latricia Huston (Charlene, Maria) was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. Mother of one beautiful and very special daughter who holds the keys to her heart. Received Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of New Orleans. Involved in Theatre as long as she can remember. She loves to talk to anyone that will listen. Her favorite role is Mary (mother) in The Unaquainted where she played the mother of Jesus. Now, who wouldn't feel special playing this role?
Katryn Schmidt (Pastor Jo) was raised in Slidell, LA and currently resides in Cajun Country: Lafayette, LA. Katryn has always has a passion for acting and feels blessed to be given the chance to utilize her talent for such a good cause; she is grateful for being able to work with a wonderful and talented group of people. Although not directly affected by Hurricane Katrina, all members on both sides of her family lost their homes and were forced to relocate. As of yet, none have been able to move back home to New Orleans. Katryn takes comfort in knowing that this world is not her home - "We are all just passing through."
Molly E. Maginnis (Co-Producer, April tour: Lola, Joanna) is ecstatic to be a part of the national tour of The Name of the Rain. Having been involved with the show since its very first reading, it is a goal come true to make it a national tour to raise funds and awareness for the people greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina. Molly holds a BFA from Stephens College and is fortunate to have been working professionally thus far. She would like to thank her family, especially the Courville's and everyone with Dean Companies, The Manship Theater and Playmakers of Baton Rouge for their support and career experience. She would like to greatly extend her thanks to Sarah, Amelia, Richard and Jean Marie.
Susie Labry (April tour: Delores, Florence): http://www.louisianasunshine.net. Chairman of Baton Rouge Film and Music Meetup and Asst. Organizer of The HURD Meetup, Movie and Casting Database Meetup, Lafayette Film and TV Meetup. Politically active; organized mass grassroots effort to create, save, and refine film, tv, theater and video tax credits in Louisiana. Served on Louisiana Music Commission. Actress, Singer/Songwriter/ Musician, Community/Political Activist. New Orleans, LA native, resides in Baton Rouge, LA.
Sharon Clement (June tour: Florence): Sharon has been gracing New Orleans stages for more years that she wants to admit. This is first time for a tour though! Look for fleeting glimpses of Sharon this December in the upcoming Brad Pitt movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Wendell T. Harrison (Jazz, Jean-Claude), a Baton Rouge native, holds a B.A. in Theatre- Performance from Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he was involved in many facets of theatre, most notably playing the title character of Lorca in A Green Dress. He currently serves as the Company Manager of Renegade Shakespeare Company and recently played Polixenes in Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. He has also performed in the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the University of Sussex. In The Boy Who Cried Wolfman, a physically demanding children's show, Wendell was able to perform for families displaced after Hurricane Katrina. He dedicates his life to using theatre to promote consciousness of global issues and is therefore grateful to be a part of this show.
Trey Bagbey (Stan) is from Zachary, Louisiana. He's been acting ever since his sister Ali told him to take drama courses in high school. He most recently appeared as "Garcin" in renegade Shakespeare's production of No Exit by Jean Paul Sartre.
Christian Wild (Police Officer, FEMA Man) was born in New Orleans, raised in Destrehan. He went to John Curtis Christian School and is now attending UNO for a degree in Film, Theatre and Communication Arts.
Lynette White-Pierce (Maggie) is a 24-year old native of New Orleans, LA and is proud to be a part of this opportunity. Lynette earned her B.A. in Psychology at LSU, where she first began to carve her newly-found niche of acting. While in college, she performed in various short plays under the direction of Thais Bass-Moore, which highlighted struggles of African-American families. In September 2004, she debuted in her largest stage play, The River Niger, which showed in LSU's Union Theatre. Lynette has also studied Acting/Improvisation, but when she is not acting, she is assisting with the direction, and stage management of productions at BREC Independence Park Theatre. Lynette resides in Baton Rouge, with her husband Starvos Pierce, her co-owner in a local art business, Art N Soul.
Amelia Lorenz (Director, Red-Cross Director): A Chicago actor and director, Amelia moved to New Orleans in response to a call to add her heart and hands to the tremendous work of recovering the Gulf Coast. She and her husband Greg founded the Gulf Coast site of the PC(USA)'s Young Adult Volunteer Program. Amelia was thrilled to receive another call (this time from Jean-Marie Peacock) inviting her to use her “Chicago-life” to bring this amazing story to stages and communities around the country. Katrina was not an “Act of God.” The act of God is the faithful and loving response of God's people to our brothers and sisters. Her past work includes The Sanculottes' Practical Anatomy, As You Like It with the Velvet Willies, and Kevin Kuhlke's Winesburg: Small Town Life with the Perseverance Theatre. As always, she would like to thank her amazing family for their support.
Sarah Leer (Stage Manager, Co-Producer) is from Fort Smith, Arkansas. Sarah received her BA from Wake Forest University in 2003, where she took many classes in religion, but spent most of her "free" time in the theatre department, where she began her career as a stage manager. She received her theological degrees (M.A.T.S. and Th.M.) from Columbia Theological Seminary. Her true loves are American Religious Culture and Theatre. She is enjoying a return to the theatre as a stage manager and enjoys the added challenge of Producer. Sarah is a Young Adult Volunteer with the Presbyterian Church (USA). She lives in New Orleans. She thanks her friends, family, and wonderful cast!
